High School Marching Band spielt Rage against the Machine Mash Up

"Bulls on Parade" und "Killing in the name" in einem Stück. Dufte.

McFarlane Toys produziert "The Walking Dead" Figuren!!!1111

THE WALKING DEAD Series 1
Officer Rick Grimes
Michonne (!!!)
Zombie Lurker
Zombie Roamer

THE WALKING DEAD Series 2
Deputy Rick Grimes
Daryl Dixon
Zombie Walker
Zombie Biter

Each human figure includes multiple interchangeable accessories and several points of articulation for limitless possibility and customization. Each zombie figure features unique, gory, play action such as exploding heads and removable limbs. Figures are expected to sell for around $14.99 at retailers nationwide.

Bin schon ganz wuschig.

“Kirkman has created a world that is macabre and suspenseful with deeply-drawn characters: both human and zombies,” said Todd McFarlane, McFarlane Toys, creative force and CEO. “Working with the creative talents of Kirkman and AMC, we have planned figures lines that authentically represent both the television and comic series – including mind-blowing details, likenesses and play action. We want to push the envelope so that the true essence of ‘The Walking Dead’ series is captured.”
“I simply cannot contain my excitement over working with McFarlane Toys,” said Robert Kirkman, creator of “The Walking Dead” comic-book series. “For nearly two decades McFarlane Toys have proven themselves to be leading the pack when it comes to making cool looking, innovative toys, and I'm thrilled that they're going to continue to do so with ‘The Walking Dead.”

JENNIFER ANISTON Is Sandler's Pretend Wife In “JUST GO WITH IT”

Jennifer Aniston pretends to be Adam Sandler’s wife in Columbia Pictures’ new romantic comedy “Just Go With It.”

In the film, Danny (Sandler) a plastic surgeon, romancing a much younger schoolteacher named Palmer (Brooklyn Decker), enlists his loyal assistant Katherine (Aniston) to pretend to be his soon to be ex-wife, in order to cover up a careless lie. When more lies backfire, the assistant's kids become involved, and everyone heads off for a weekend in Hawaii that will change all their lives.

How does a single mom like Katherine, trying to get by and provide for her two kids, get roped into Danny’s outrageous scheme? “She’s just exhausted by him,” says Aniston. “She feels she has to help him save himself from his own web of lies, even though she doesn’t approve. When she’s in the middle of it, you can see her thinking, ‘How did I get on board with this?’”

But she does help, because Danny and Katherine have a unique relationship. “They work together and have a great relationship – she thinks he’s funny and he obviously cares about her, and even though he lies to everybody else, he always tells her the truth. She’s the only one who knows what he’s really like,” says Aniston. “She can’t help but like him, even when she thinks he’s been acting like a pig.” When he convinces Katherine that he is done playing the field and ready to settle down with Palmer, she does what any friend would do and helps.

But that’s just the start – as Danny and Katherine attempt to keep up the charade, the lie keeps getting bigger and bigger. “Every lie has a domino effect,” says director Dennis Dugan.

Before Katherine knows it, her kids, Maggie and Michael, have been looped into the lie, but they’ll need a little more convincing… especially when Michael sees a way to turn the tables on Danny. Before he knows it, Danny is on his way to Hawaii with a fake wife, fake kids, his real cousin (who’s playing the fake wife’s fake boyfriend) – all in an effort to convince Palmer that he’s a stand-up guy.

"I couldn't believe how quick and funny Jennifer is," Sandler says of his co-star. "I know she is funny in real life, but it was pretty amazing when we were together how much fun we had and how she added and ended up beating me in scenes. I'd walk back to the trailer saying, 'I gotta get some writers to help me.'"

Aniston said their onscreen movie banter was a blast. "I loved it! It was so much fun... We had, as we call it, a nice verbal tennis match."

Opening across the Philippines on Feb. 16, “Just Go With It” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International. “Mad Men's” JANUARY JONES Doesn't Recognize Her Husband In “UNKNOWN”

She has earned Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominations in the category of Best Actress in a Drama Series for her performance as Betty Draper, the wife of high-powered, philandering advertising executive in the acclaimed series “Mad Men.” Now, January Jones plays another strong wife role, this time to Liam Neeson's character, in Warner Bros.' new riveting action-thriller “Unknown.”

In the film, Dr. Martin Harris (Neeson) awakens after a car accident in Berlin to discover that his wife, Liz (Jones) suddenly doesn’t recognize him and another man (Aidan Quinn) has assumed his identity. Ignored by disbelieving authorities and hunted by mysterious assassins, he finds himself alone, tired, and on the run.

Nearly everywhere he looks for help, Martin is turned away, the first being the most devastating—when he goes to see his wife. Expecting her to be relieved to see him and to run to him with open arms, he is stunned when she greets him with nothing more than the guileless stare of a complete stranger.

January Jones was drawn to “Unknown” for the unique qualities of the story. “This was something I hadn’t read before; it was so interesting and intricate,” the actress offers. “It reminded me of those old spy movies, with a sense of danger and intrigue, but also a hint of glamour to it.”

Jones also enjoyed the enigmatic way her character was written. “Nothing was set in stone with Liz; she was very smart, but also inscrutable, and I loved how unpredictable she was. You know that Martin loves her, but her side of the story isn’t quite clear, so there was a lot to play around with,” she says.

“January is an intelligent actress and her work is very layered,” director Jaume Collet-Serra says. “She’s also beautiful in a way that is reminiscent of the femme fatales of the `50s, so she really had all the qualities we wanted to play this indefinable figure.”

“Liz Harris is the icy, sexy blond who is right in the heat of things,” producer Joel Silver comments. “January was wonderful at giving you just enough to let you know there’s more to her story, without giving anything away.”

Upcoming on the big screen, January will star as Emma Frost in the action adventure “X-Men: First Class,” due out this summer. In addition, she stars with Nicolas Cage in the thriller “The Hungry Rabbit Jumps,” under the direction of Roger Donaldson.

Jones recently starred with Philip Seymour Hoffman and Kenneth Branagh in the comedy “Pirate Radio,” written and directed by Richard Curtis. She had previously worked with Curtis as a member of the ensemble cast of his romantic comedy hit “Love Actually.”

Her additional film credits include the true-life drama “We Are Marshall,” opposite Matthew Fox and Matthew McConaughey; the indie “Swedish Auto”; Tommy Lee Jones’ “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada,” which debuted to critical acclaim at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival; the comedy “American Wedding”; Peter Segal’s “Anger Management,” alongside Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson; “Full Frontal,” directed by Steven Soderbergh; and Barry Levinson’s “Bandits,” with Bruce Willis, Billy Bob Thornton and Cate Blanchett.

Opening across the Philippines on Feb. 16, “Unknown” will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

NICKI MINAJ | Releases an electrifying debut album ‘Pink Friday’

Nicki Minaj knows how female rappers electrify fans, after all she used to be a fan herself. “I know I was always excited by whatever female was hot at the time,” Nicki Minaj says.

Today, millions of music fans are now saying the same thing about Nicki Minaj, part comic, part sex symbol and all-the-way lyrical assassin. She has everyone talking about her fiery verse on Kanye West’s “Monster” which also features Jay-Z and her infectious, standout appearances alongside Lil Wayne (“Knockout”), Usher (“Lil Freak”), Trey Songz (“Bottoms Up”), Robin Thicke (“Shakin’ It 4 Daddy,”), Sean Kingston (“Letting Go”), Christina Aguilera (“WooHoo”) and as a member of Young Money among many others, have catapulted the Queens, New York entertainer to the forefront of the music industry.

Her appeal is undeniably intoxicating, which is why her first single “Your Love” from her debut album ‘Pink Friday’ hit number one on the Billboard rap charts, which was last achieved by a female hip-hop artist since 2003. Here in the Philippines, Nicki Minaj’s rising popularity has been evidenced by the upshot of her hit singles’ “Your Love” and “Check It Out” feat Will.i.am as they continue to flourish in our local music charts. This flurry of success has casted Nicki in a unique position with the release of her long-anticipated debut album ‘Pink Friday’.

This album is pretty solid with must-hear songs featuring Kanye West, Eminem, Rihanna, Will.I.Am, Drake and Natasha Bedingfield. “Pink Friday” is a combination of Nicki Minaj’s singing/rap combination and features soft songs that will capture the hearts of her female audience like “Save Me” & “Your Love”, but also includes a few records like “Roman’s Revenge feat. Eminem” and “Did It On Em” for the hip hop enthusiasts.

Another testament to her astounding cache: Nicki Minaj hosted BET's Rip the Runway 2010 and pulled in the highest ratings ever for the show setting the stage for a performance on the 2010 BET Awards where she took home trophies for Best New Artist and Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, and for Best Group as a key member of the super-group Young Money. At the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, she stole the spotlight with a show-stealing performance of her duet “Check It Out” with Will.i.am.

Whether it’s her creative phrasing or her ability to seamlessly switch from rapping to singing or her imaginative, fantasy-inspiring outfits, or her multiple personalities, Nicki Minaj clearly has all eyes on her as she prepares for the dawning of ‘Pink Friday’.

Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday is exclusively released under MCA Music, Inc.

Everything is a Remix - Doku

"The Walking Dead" DVD/Blu Ray erscheint im März

"Zombies ate my Neighbors" Verfilmung ist unterwegs!

Happy Birthday George A. Romero

Aus diesem Grund ist heute auch "Tweet like a Zombie Day".

Ohne Mist.
Diary of the Dead und Survival of the Dead.

Top 10 'American Idol' Sob Stories: David Cook, Chris Medina & More

FOX

"American Idol" auditioner Chris Medina set off waterworks across the country last week with his Milwaukee tryout, in which he shared a truly heartbreaking story about the accident that left his fiancee Juliana Ramos brain-damaged. But Medina is by no means the first person with a tragic tale to come across "Idol," which has called upon viewers to break out their tissue boxes many, many times over 10 seasons.

Here, the top 10 "American Idol" sob stories that still bring the tear

Chris Medina
Season 10

Chris Medina performed a solid rendition of the Script's "Breakeven," but his audition will be remembered for the appearance of his fiancee Juliana. After Medina, who is one of her caretakers, earned a trip to Hollywood, he brought her out to meet the judges, and Steven Tyler said, "He sings so good [because] he sings to you."

Danny Gokey
Season 8

Like Medina, Danny Gokey made his personal heartache apparent from the moment he came to "Idol." The season nine third-place finisher lost his wife Sophia during surgery for a heart condition just four weeks before he tried out, and as he told his story to "Idol's" cameras, he simply broke down. "I was so close to not trying out because of the grief; I mean, the grief is so intense," Gokey said. "But I decided I'm gonna go through [with] it because I believe that people through me can see who my wife was." And that's exactly what happened, as Gokey won the judges over by singing "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" and never looked back.

Angela Martin
Season 9

"For every heart that swells with good news, one is broken with bad," Seacrest said at the end of season nine's Hollywood cuts -- but did Angela Martin's really need to be broken more? By the time she tried out for "Idol" a third time, fans knew the most intimate details of her life: her father was killed, her daughter struggled with seizures, she was briefly jailed for a traffic violation (disqualifying her second "Idol" audition) and then her mother went mysteriously missing. "Could this finally be Angela's year?" Seacrest wondered just before Martin met with the judges one last time. Unbelievably, it was not, but we're still rooting for her happiness.

David Cook
Season 7

Season seven winner David Cook had plenty of incredible "Idol" moments, but one that really stands out is when his brother Adam Cook, who was battling brain cancer, was cleared by his doctors to travel to Los Angeles and see him perform on the show. David sang Mariah Carey's "Always Be My Baby" and moved even himself to tears, while his family looked on proudly. Adam Cook passed away in 2009, but his memory definitely lives on thanks to David.

Asia'h Epperson
Season 7

Asia'h Epperson's father died in a car accident just two days before her audition for "American Idol" season seven, and somehow, she summoned the strength to step in front of the judges and deliver a heartwrenching rendition of LeAnn Rimes' "How Do I Live." "I think your dad would be very proud of you," Simon told the then-18-year-old. Epperson made it all the way to the Top 16 before going home.

Scott MacIntyre
Season 8

Few "Idol" contestants could move Paula Abdul to tears like Scott MacIntyre, who won the hearts of millions with his ability to perform amazingly well on the "Idol" stage despite a serious visual impairment. McIntyre's self-deprecating sense of humor made him that much more endearing, and when his remarkable run ultimately ended, he was sent off with a standing ovation.

Anthony Fedorov
Season 4

Anthony Fedorov was told he'd never speak again after having a tracheotomy as a child, but by the time "Idol" season four kicked off, the Ukrainian-American singer had beaten the odds. Fedorov wowed during his audition and made it all the way to fourth place before a duet with eventual winner Carrie Underwood failed to ignite voters.

Josiah Leming
Season 7

The fact that Josiah Leming was a season seven favorite and didn't even make the final cut was a testament to not just his striking voice, but also his personal story. After dropping out of high school, the Tennessee native moved out of his home and into his car, and told producers: "Wherever the wind blows, that's where I go." It may not have blown him through the Hollywood round, but Leming finally released his debut album, "Come On Kid," on Warner Bros. last year, so all's well that ends well.

Jim Verraros
Season 1

The original "American Idol" sob story, season one's Jim Verraros was raised by deaf parents and grew up fluent in sign language. "It's been one of my huge dreams for them to magically just hear [me sing]," Verraros told Randy, Paula and Simon when he auditioned. "It doesn't happen, but nevertheless they are at every single one of my shows, whether they can hear it or not." Verraros' parents cheered for him all the way to the top 10, when he was eliminated.

Katie Stevens
Season 9

Connecticut native Katie Stevens shared the story of her grandmother, who was suffering from Alzheimer's, during the season 9 auditions. "She's probably not gonna remember me for much longer, so I want her to see me succeed in my dreams before she forgets who I am," the 16-year-old singer said. After an impressive take on "At Last" sent her to the next round (and all the way to 8th place), Katie called her grandmother and made her cry by announcing, "I won!"

Movie Sneak Peek – “WORLD INVASION: BATTLE LOS ANGELES”

For years, there have been documented cases of UFO sightings around the world – Buenos Aires, Seoul, France, Germany, China. But in 2011, what were once just sightings will become a terrifying reality when Earth is attacked by unknown forces, in Columbia Pictures' new sci-fi action-thriller “World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles.”

As people everywhere watch the world’s great cities fall, Los Angeles becomes the last stand for mankind in a battle no one expected. It’s up to a Marine staff sergeant (Aaron Eckhart) and his new platoon to draw a line in the sand as they take on an enemy unlike any they’ve ever encountered before.

Directed by Jonathan Liebesman, “World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles” stars Aaron Eckhart (“The Dark Knight”), Michelle Rodriguez (“The Fast and the Furious”) and Bridget Moynahan (“The Recruit”).

A film like “World Invasion” defies genres – it has elements of action, science fiction and war thrown into one. And that's exactly what attracted most of the cast and crew to the project.

"I grew up on these types of movies," director Jonathan Liebesman shares. "War movies and science-fiction films are my favorite. Whether it's `Braveheart' or `Alien', or `Terminator.' And here you get to meld the two."

But Liebesman is very specific about which genre comes first: "It's not an alien movie that happens to have soldiers. It's a war movie with aliens."

That spirit is also what drew Aaron Eckhart, who plays Staff Sergeant Michael Nantz in the film. Sgt. Nantz leads a platoon of marines into the City of Angels after it comes under attack by invading aliens. "I did this because of director, Jonathan Liebesman," Eckhart says. "I felt that he wanted to make a realistic war movie, and that's what I wanted to do."

Opening soon across the Philippines, “World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International. “I AM NUMBER FOUR” – New Sci-Fi Thriller From “TRANSFORMERS” Producer

From the director of the No. 1 box-office hit “Eagle Eye” and the producer of the blockbuster “Transformers” series comes DreamWorks Pictures' “I Am Number Four,” a suspense-filled action-thriller featuring relatable, engaging characters grounded in the familiar realm of high school but caught up in a deadly manhunt.

Based on the best-selling book by Pittacus Lore, “I Am Number Four” revolves about an extraordinary young man, John Smith (Alex Pettyfer), who is a fugitive on the run from ruthless enemies sent to destroy him. Changing his identity, moving from town to town with his guardian Henri (Timothy Olyphant), John is always the new kid with no ties to his past. In the small Ohio town he now calls home, John encounters unexpected, life-changing events—his first love (Dianna Agron), powerful new abilities and a connection to the others who share his incredible destiny.

The film’s classic dramatic elements are set to draw the audience into the thriller from the opening scene to the climax. The lead character, John Smith, is struggling with the realization that who he always thought he was and who he really is are polar opposites, and he must make up his mind whether or not to accept his destiny—and the sacrifices it entails.

As producer Michael Bay says, “John aka Number Four has a destiny that’s going to catch up to him whether he wants to face it or not. That’s where the drama of this movie comes from. This teenager finally finds what he’s looking for, but he can’t have it because he has to save the world first.”

At the same time, John is a typical teen, pushing boundaries, challenging his guardian Henri at every turn, but not fully realizing the consequences. It is real-life drama with high stakes.

The character-driven suspense will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. As director D.J. Caruso explains, “The more you care about a character on a real level, when you put him or her in suspenseful situations, the more real and the more terrifying the suspense is going to be because you really feel for that character.”

Caruso found that combining the real-life drama the characters experience in “I Am Number Four” with their otherworldly abilities and keeping it “real” was both an enjoyable experience and a challenge for him as a filmmaker. “The thing I enjoyed the most was keeping the drama incredibly real so that when the fantastical kicked in, you were relating to it on a human level,” he says.

“I Am Number Four” is the biggest effects movie Caruso has ever done and he is finding Michael Bay’s experience as a director of such mega-hits as “Transformers” and “Armageddon” an invaluable help. “Michael has been very helpful with the physicality of what needs to happen on set when you are dealing with a CG character,” explains Caruso.

Michael Bay equally admires his director, “D.J. has an incredible ability to get in touch with the reality of his young characters’ lives. It’s not easy to make an alien kid with super powers feel real—an authentic hero that audiences could relate to.”

Caruso was immediately captivated by the story of “I Am Number Four,” particularly the character of John Smith, played by Alex Pettyfer. “I was really attracted to it from the character standpoint—this disenfranchised teenager who keeps moving around, not really putting down roots, and trying to figure out who he is. At the same time, he’s got this hidden destiny. I thought it was a really cool story.”

Caruso admits that he is interested in characters who are going through a dark period. “Through that darkness they figure out where the light is, and they find something good. What I enjoy exploring is the notion that you have to experience some bad things in order to grow up, and to find out who you are. Thematically, that happens in this movie as well.”

Opening soon across the Philippines, “I Am Number Four” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International through Columbia Pictures.

Francis Kong: Learning From Trees

http://www.landscapedirect.com/trees/tips/

Part of our high school educational requirement many years ago was to plant trees. Under the scorching heat of the sun, the continuous prodding of our teachers, we planted trees. Now I don’t know what happened because it is very apparent that I am not gifted with the skill to grow things. Every single flower I planted died. But I suppose some good happened out from the efforts the students did.

The following article from an unknown author is entitled “All I Need To Know About Life I Learned From Trees”. And here are the lessons:
  • It’s important to have roots.
  • In today’s complex world, it pays to branch out.
  • If you really believe in something, don’t be afraid to go out on a limb.
  • Be flexible so you don’t break when a harsh wind blows.
  • Sometimes you have to shed your old bark in order to grow.
  • Grow where you’re planted.
  • It’s perfectly okay to be a late bloomer.
  • Avoid people who would like to cut you down.
  • Get all spruced up when you have a hot date.
  • If the party gets boring, just leaf.
  • You can’t hide your true colors as you approach the autumn of your life.
  • It’s more important to be honest than popular.

Those are some good lessons. They remind me of some other lessons taught in Psalm 1:

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.” (Psalm 1:1-3)

The Psalmist says that a godly man is like a tree in three very important ways. First, he is planted – he’s got his roots put down deep, he’s fortified, stable. Second, he bears fruit – he develops godlike qualities in his character and life. Third, he doesn’t wither – he is able to survive under all circumstances, even days of difficulty.

  • Stay away from the losers. The company you keep can make you or break you.
  • But the person who puts his faith in God and certainly not only meditates on The Word but follows the commands of God will find sure success.
  • And then the winner knows timing. And he knows that God is the perfect Timer.
  • And when success comes it is long and it is lasting. Not get rich quick, not overnight and not at the expense of others.
  • There’s a lot we can learn from trees.
  • And as we talk about trees today, let me end with a story about trees.

A man was watching his eighty-year-old neighbor planting a small peach tree. He inquired of him as follows: “You don’t expect to eat peaches from that tree, do you?” The old man rested on his spade. He said, “No, at my age I know I won’t. But all my life I’ve enjoyed peaches–never from a tree I planted myself. I’m just trying to pay the other fellows who planted the trees for me.”

  • Be a good father and raise up good kids who will blossom into becoming useful citizens.
  • Be a good boss and influence your people to be the best they can ever be.
  • Be a good mother and raise up a godly family that will form the core of a powerful nation.
  • Be a good citizen and help make this country a better place.
  • When we are doing things like these, we are planting trees.
  • So why don’t you go out and plant a tree for someone?

Slow Justice Is No Justice for DWAYNE JOHNSON In “FASTER”

Columbia Pictures gathers a powerhouse cast for its new action-thriller “Faster” lead by Dwayne Johnson (“The Rundown,” “The Scorpion King”), Billy Bob Thornton (“Eagle Eye”) and newcomer Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Carla Gugino (“Watchmen”), Maggie Grace (“Taken”) and Moon Bloodgood (“Terminator Salvation”).

After 10 years in prison, Driver (Johnson) has a singular focus - to avenge the murder of his brother during the botched bank robbery that led to his imprisonment. Now a free man with a deadly to-do list in hand, he’s finally on his mission…but with two men on his trail – a veteran cop (Thornton) just days from retirement, and a young egocentric hitman (Jackson-Cohen) with a flair for the art of killing and a newfound worthy opponent. The hunter is also the hunted. It’s a do or die race to the list’s finish as the mystery surrounding his brother’s murder deepens, and new details emerge along the way hinting that Driver’s list may be incomplete.

It was a fateful day a few years ago when writer/producer Tony Gayton approached his brother, and Faster co-writer, Joe Gayton with the thread of an idea. “I remember imagining a guy in prison on the day of his release getting a speech from the warden then just breaking into a sprint out of the prison gates and going straight to kill someone,” recalls Tony Gayton. “I liked the idea of this introduction where you have no idea who this guy is. He turns out to be the hero out to get revenge for his brother’s murder but he could very well have turned out to be the bad guy.” On that day, the character that would come to be known simply as ‘Driver’ was born.

“(Driver) is like a shark – he has a clear mission,” notes Joe Gayton who also serves as Executive Producer on the film. “It was apparent at this early stage that his determination would provide for a true, high-octane adventure.” As the screenplay evolved, what emerged was not just an action film but also a character study and exploration into the minds of three men - the other two main characters known simply by the monikers ‘Cop’ and ‘Killer.’ But Driver’s mission was at the story’s core and finding the right actor to portray him would be the first target.

Director George Tillman, Jr. responded to the material as a throwback to action films of the 70s. “70s action films have cool heroes but those same heroes also have a dramatic essence; they are complicated characters. I think audiences today yearn for a more sophisticated action film where they can relate to the characters since people are by nature complicated.”

Producer Bob Teitel had a similar reaction to the material’s nostalgic factor. “It felt like a movie you don’t really see these days - where the lead character has a presence that immediately commands the audience’s attention and they instantly follow him on his journey. It’s only along that journey that the audience learns more about the character.”

Opening soon across the Philippines, “Faster” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International. LIAM NEESON Must Take Back His Life In “UNKNOWN”

What if you knew, deep down, who you really were, but couldn’t prove it? And what if someone else—someone you didn’t know—claimed to be you, and everyone believed him?

That is the dilemma at the center of Warner Bros.' new suspense-thriller “Unknown.”

Who or what determines who we are? Is it our friends…our memories…where we come from…a piece of paper…? Where is the proof? Based on the novel by Didier van Cauwelaert, “Unknown” explores exactly that as Dr. Martin Harris, played by Liam Neeson, races through the cold streets of Berlin in order to take back his life, while dodging the men who are hot on his trail and trying to kill him. Though he has no idea why.

The star of “Unknown” was pulled into the story from the start. “For me, it’s always the script, and this was a real page-turner,” Neeson asserts. “My litmus test is this: if I can get to page 50 without stopping for a tea break, then it’s a very good sign. This was such good material that I had to read it all in one sitting.”

Liam Neeson plays Dr. Martin Harris, a botanist, who arrives with his wife, Liz, at the Hotel Adlon in Berlin for a biotechnology summit. When Martin realizes that his briefcase didn’t make it into the taxi with them, he grabs another cab to rush back to the airport. But en route, they are in a terrible accident. The driver, Gina, bravely saves Martin’s life but then mysteriously disappears. After lying in a coma for four days, he awakens; with no identification, Martin struggles to remember who he is.

“Once he remembers his identity, he urgently tries to locate his wife, assuming she must be frantic with worry,” Neeson relates. But when he finds Liz back at the hotel, she doesn’t know him, and worse, another man is claiming to be him—and Liz believes this “other” Martin.

“It’s like reverse amnesia,” director Jaume Collet-Serra reveals. “It’s as if the world has amnesia about him—he absolutely knows who he is, but everyone else has forgotten him.”

The filmmakers all agreed that Neeson was the perfect actor for the role because he has such tremendous screen presence. “I’ve always admired Liam’s work,” Collet-Serra says, “and for a director, he is a generous actor that keeps on giving, on set and on screen. He can be very intense and very subtle at the same time.”

Both would be required; it was essential that the character draw the audience into his psyche, so they would be trying to decipher why all this is happening, right along with him.

The director continues, “One of my concerns was that the viewer has so little time to get to know Martin before everything goes awry. But with Liam, there’s an instant connection. You like him, you believe in him.”

“We wanted somebody people would root for,” producer Joel Silver adds. “Liam has great charisma, and is also totally accessible, and those are exactly the traits we needed for Martin Harris.”

“To the audience, Martin Harris seems to have the perfect marriage and an interesting life,” Neeson explains, “but it’s all suddenly shattered in an instant. He is alone and not just abandoned, but rejected by everyone he thinks he knows. And his every impulse makes him more determined to find out the truth and, more importantly, prove he is who he says he is.”

Neeson was attracted to the idea of exploring lost identity. “I totally locked in to what Martin was going through,” he says. “I was an amateur boxer as a kid, and I got my bell rung a few times. It’s always stayed with me, that memory of not having a memory, even for a short time. It was an interesting life experience to draw on for this role.”

Opening across the Philippines on Feb. 16, “Unknown” will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Adam Sandler's Careless Lies Go Awry In “JUST GO WITH IT”

In Columbia Pictures' new romantic comedy “Just Go With It,” a plastic surgeon (Adam Sandler), romancing a much younger schoolteacher, enlists his loyal assistant (Jennifer Aniston) to pretend to be his soon to be ex-wife, in order to cover up a careless lie. When more lies backfire, the assistant's kids become involved, and everyone heads off for a weekend in Hawaii that will change all their lives.

At the center of “Just Go With It” is an everyday guy who has let a careless lie get away from him. “At the beginning of the movie, my character, Danny, was going to get married, but he gets his heart broken,” says Adam Sandler. “The night of his heartbreak he happens to have the ring on and a young lady is nice to him, because she thinks he’s married and thinks he’s harmless and won’t do anything that other guys were trying to do. A light goes off in his head.”

The ring becomes his scheme to avoid getting his heart broken: the ladies think he’s off the table, and with no strings attached, no one gets hurt – especially not Danny. But when he meets Palmer (Brooklyn Decker), the girl of his dreams, his lies come back to haunt him – she thinks he’s married. Instead of coming clean, he chooses to weave an even more tangled web: he invents a fake wife – to be played by his long-suffering assistant, Katherine (Aniston) – from whom he can get a fake divorce, clearing the way for smooth sailing with Palmer.

But that’s just the start – as Danny and Katherine attempt to keep up the charade, the lie keeps getting bigger and bigger. “Every lie has a domino effect,” says director Dennis Dugan who most recently directed Sandler in “Grown Ups,” the star’s biggest worldwide hit to date, taking in more than $260 million.

Overseeing the production is director Dennis Dugan, whose films have taken in more than a billion dollars worldwide. Dugan marks his sixth collaboration with Sandler on “Just Go With It” (and recently wrapped production on their seventh, the comedy “Jack and Jill,” in theaters this fall). The director says that he has enjoyed his fifteen-year relationship with Sandler. “We have a great way of working together,” he says. “I try to figure out what he wants to see, what he wants, what he’s picturing in his head, and then I try to put my spin on it and see how magnificent we can make it."

“There's a specific way that we work together,” Dugan adds. “Adam and I have a similar approach to comedy. As crazy as it gets, we try to base it in reality. We tell all the actors who work with us that everybody can get as crazy as they want, but we try to keep it all in the same style.”
