Info Post
For a long time, chick flicks have been smothering the airways of the real dude particularly the comics locales. And for a long while now, Star Cinema have been engineering films intended to flicker the chicks that are obviously an ache for the critic's eye.

Not so alas, thank God, today I've witnessed a movie remote from the 'chick-flick' premise that's been smothering people (redundancy noted).

And tell you about it, I've witnessed an officially enjoyable 'Unofficially Yours'.

Cess and Macky (Angel Locsin and John Lloyd Cruz) attached sexually. For one night. They ended up as colleagues at a newspaper company (they shoot near our campus, duh we get to see the two of 'em! SWAG) and slowly with Macky being the persistent one, attached with a different aspect--emotionally. Things stir up causing the movie a well-balanced satire and drama.

If John Lloyd Cruz is involved in a romance film, then the chemistry will in fat chances won't be a problem. There is something about the actor that enables him to somehow connect with his pair and just spark; as though a magnet pole attracting its opposite.

Angel Locsin is also a key species. Without her, imagining the film in the back of my mind, will be completely displaced. Locsin alters the interaction of events, scenes and skills to a very balanced and neat manner.

Although we see a hackneyed plot (Friends with Benefits, No Strings Attached) poking out its head, we are going to be able to notice the difference of its head to its body. Unofficially Yours may be the new conservative.

Charismatic, sexy and entertaining. The movie exerts less effort involving the two leads in generating the hilarity that comes out naturally and more in sexual scenes that seemed to be stiffened and awkward and I don't know, unnatural?!

While being fun and satiric, 'Unofficially Yours' also catches the eyes of drama-goers. There are moments that you don't know which your tears come from: a stir of surpassing emotions, or overwhelming amount of hilarity. Alas, like any other Pinoy film, 'Unofficially Yours' comes conventional and formulaic. We sometimes predict what is going to happen, until the involvement of Patrick Garcia suggested a remote thing else.

If we are smothered by comedy-romance and chick-flicks that tries too hard to be comedic, and by dramas that comes in all-over-the-place, then 'Unofficially Yours' will be just at the right amount doing the magic trick. Fun, young and balanced. 'Unofficially Yours' is a well-crafted film.
