Info Post

The Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood topbills the hotly anticipated remake of 1980's psycho-slasher Maniac. Warner Bros. just released the first six minutes of the film, basically following Wood as he surveys the road and tails his prospect kill. Watch it below.

I am not at all troubled about how Wood is going to tackle this role. Frankly, Wood could handle "crazy" really well. In LOTR as the hairy-footed Frodo, he was bits creepy in attempts to hold on to The Ring. TV's "Wilfred", showcases a lighter kind of crazy in which Wood sees a particular dog as a human in a dog costume.

Directed by Franck Khalfoun (P2), the film follows a Frank (Wood) who ultimately became homicidal right after the horrendous murder of his mother. Now, Frank roams the streets, in pursuit of skinning innocent women and collecting their scalps. The movie also stars Nora Arnezder (Safe House) and America Olivo (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen).

Maniac has premiered at Chicago International Film Festival in October 16 this year, but the movie is likely to have a wider release anytime soon.
