Originally from Brazil, Tiago is said to have lived in both England and the United States. Hence, the album if heard for the first time can easily be mistaken as an American act. Commercial, accessible, somewhat easily mistaken as another artist, but offers new and interesting music.
There are hints of Jason Mraz especially in the song “Fine” and John Mayer in “Nothing But A Song”, but at 22, this lad proves that his song writing skills are of value especially that he delivers songs that are relevant and current. A mistake most artists do in their crusade to promote “artists” music as they dub it. Yes, there is room to practice artistry and show what an artist is really made of, or boast of one’s roots and how deep their repertoire and appreciation is. But record companies need their investments back. And as tacky as that sounds, that is the only way for the industry to survive. To continue producing acts that are willing to deliver 99 percent of what the market is asking for. The 1 percent left to their artistry. And it seems, this young man is well guided.
It is always a worry when an artist touches a masterpiece – like “Ticket To Ride”. Touching a John Lennon composition especially is not an easy task. In some corner of the globe, I am sure someone is bitching about Tiago’s version. But as far as my ear is concerned, this is a great version! Light, airy, current and pleasant. He has given it a new appeal that can help introduce the young generation to the iconic group that has inspired millions. Yes, it sounds preachy but at certain points , an artist has to come forward and remind the new “groupies” of the groups/artists that have created opportunities for their present idols.

This is a wonderful album and I highly recommend it! It is a perfect conclusion to a stressful day. Intelligently written melodies that are not obtrusive, whether sitting alone, legs outstretched, coffee cup in hand in the living room or while conversing with friends, this is an album that will get one’s attention with each melody for while listening to it, one finds himself tapping his fingers along with each song. :o)
