Info Post
As part of FilmPolice's keeping up with all of the films that we have missed reviewing, author/founder ArmandDC takes a step in to review the latter Ridley Scott: 'Prometheus'.

Of all the films that could have been misjudged, it had been 'Prometheus'--a quasi prequel to 'Alien' about finding the origins of mankind and eventually finding something horribly different. 'Prometheus' is Ridley Scott's comeback entry to the sci-fi genre that is in truth remains possessing a decent amount of ingenuity to deliver the tension and excellence. Stuffed with spellbinding circles of outstanding performers, the film successfully glues the audiences to the material. However, the ingenuity of 'Prometheus' is drastically misguided. Instead of earning praises, the film harvests rough commentaries that are understandably out of disappointment. I opt to look in to the bright side however: that because many people were disappointed, that concludes that there are still many Alien fans--they share common interests with me.

'Prometheus' cannot be certain whether if its a prequel or not--but if it is, it's a very excellent way of making one. If it's not, it's a very excellent way of making a movie. Period.

Noomi Rapace (the original Lisbeth Sander of 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'; she played the role in earlier version which was released 2009) plays Elizabeth Shaw, a loving partner to Charlie Holloway (played by Logan Marshall-Green) and a dedicated scientist. Their latter mission, perhaps their last, is to board a ship called 'Prometheus'. Just so the unequipped with Greek mythology knowledge understand what or who is Prometheus, he is a titan who stole fire from the Gods and tries to give it to the townspeople. As a result, Zeus uproars his rage and punishes Prometheus. Back to the story. 'Prometheus' is sent to the space to a faraway planet called, get this: LV-223 (not LV-426 wherein the story of the 'Alien' movie took place).

Upon arrival, a partition of the seventeen crews of the ship took trip to a cave-like venue to have some science-stuff going on. Loads of unearthly elements came visible. The mission to find our "engineers" as the movie preferred to call our "makers", seemed too important. This has left the crew to continually take trials in contacting the intergalactic creatures. Things go horribly wrong: a compelling android played by Michael Fassbender ironically makes decision by himself; a selfish bitch-captain concerns herself most with owning a company; and the threat of extraterrestrial attack is still looming around. What they searched for was our beginning, what they have found could be our end. The tagline seemed to summarize the film.

With only a few days upon its release date, 'Prometheus' has quickly generated a major amount of hate commentaries (obviously these people were let down), strong arguments and ceaseless discussions about many things concerning different problems about the movie. Some people claim that 'Prometheus' has not only left questions unanswered but left a bunch more to be instead. Some people claim that it was perplexing due to its unanswered problems. Some even claim it was pure junk. Let me tell you this: 'Prometheus' is a very well made movie. It offers a very striking photography, extremely alluring performances and a bloody pulpy entertainment. In response to the unanswered questions, I think the main thing to think here is that 'Prometheus' is not entirely a 'Prequel', only it had happened in the setting of the 'Alien' films. Furthermore, it may have dug many unanswered questions but I thought of something while sitting on my toilet bowl (is that even necessary to mention right now? lol): "Many of the best sci-fi movies are left mysterious". I'll leave it like that, yes?

I was magnetized by many of the actors especially the following three. Noomi Rapace is the lead and plays very good as Elizabeth Shaw. She provides above serviceable level of acting that she sustains until the finishing sequences. Charlize Theron comes in to the movie as the leader of the mission and she is frightening every time. As an antagonist, Charlize seemed to possess very concrete knowledge. She has the aura of that grumpy cougar-esque high school science teacher that you have always been afraid of. Finally, Michael Fassbender (the last film I saw him on, was 'Inglorious Basterds', a film by Quentin Tarantino) came in as an android. He's the best actor in this movie. Made me follow his future projects. That's how good he was in the movie.

Ridley Scott, my best sci-fi director have created a same-level ingenious as comparison to his 'Alien' film. It disappoints me in a minute rate because I knew Ridley Scott had more to offer. Nonetheless, 'Prometheus' is  an enthralling movie--the kind that many people wishes to watch.
