Marvel's Journey Into Mystery reaches stands today. It's one of NOW's reworks in order to hook up with new and starting comic readers (like myself). What's weird is that they are resuming the 646th issue instead of publishing an entirely new volume starting with #1 issue. Rest assured, USA Today talked with writer Kathryn Immonen about this concern.
"Sif's got her origin story, but beyond that she's really kind of a blank slate aside from the broad strokes of her personality," Immonen says. "It's thrilling that the real estate has been put aside to develop her character in a way that hasn't really been done before."
Sif is a consistent sidekick to Thor and she made an appearance on screen, played by the fierce Jamie Alexander. She will reappearing in the hotly anticipated sequel next year.
Immonen plans to make Sif, the lady Asgardian to bounce from Midgard (Earth) and Asgard in her first story arc. "We have plumbed the insane monster depths of the Marvel Universe and, in the process, have also created a sorceress whom we are all crazy about, as well as three Berserker warriors who are having trouble adjusting to the status quo," she says. "I'll be sad to see the back of them."
Check out the cover art below (which I frankly am not liking. It looks too digital and one can't just say that it's digging).
