By now the story of Grammy-winning, multiplatinum hip-hop superstar-actor-entrepreneur-philanthropist Nelly’s meteoric rise to stardom is a well-known, oft-recited part of hip-hop history. The standout member of the St. Louis rap collective the St. Lunatics inks a deal with Universal Motown Records, drops a sizzling single called “Country Grammar” with a familiar nursery rhyme hook, and follows it up with a debut album of the same name that spawns three humongous hits, spends seven weeks atop the Billboard 200 chart, scores three Grammy nominations, and sells an astonishing 9 million copies worldwide. And now, Nelly heats up the music scene once more as he unleashes another monster-hit album titled ‘5.0’.

5.0 finds Nelly stacking the deck with the hottest producers and guest artists in pop music (T.I., T-Pain, Akon, Birdman, Keri Hilson, Kelly Rowland, Dr. Luke, Bangladesh, Rico Love, Jim Jonsin, Polow Da Don). Highlights include the scorching second single, “Move That Body,” featuring T-Pain and Akon, and produced by Dr. Luke and Bangladesh; the melodic third single, “Long Gone,” featuring Chris Brown and Plies; “I’m Number 1,” featuring Birdman and DJ Khaled; and “She’s So Fly,” featuring T.I.

The new album’s RIAA-certified platinum lead single “Just a Dream,” co-produced by Jim Jonsin and Rico Love, has soared to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and No. 5 on Billboard’s Top Pop Songs chart, in addition to holding a firm grip at No. 1 on iTunes’ Top Hip-Hop/Rap Songs chart. Without a doubt, “Just a Dream” remains the hottest single at radio while the music video—directed by Sanji and featuring actress-singer Kat Graham from the hit CW series The Vampire Diaries, plus a cameo by Shannon Brown from the LA Lakers—has received more than 7 million views on VEVO. When this hit single debuted in our local airwaves, it instantly became a chart-topper, remaining at the #1 spot in the charts of our top pop CHR stations for at least 2 consecutive weeks.

Nelly’s another scorching new single called “Move That Body,” featuring T-Pain and Akon, also became an instant hit making his ‘5.0’ album one of the hottest albums to grab this party season! Much to the delight of the legions of fans that now rank him among hip-hop’s premier artists, Nelly has proven to be worthy of all the achievements and highly-acclaimed recognition that he has gotten over the years. The critical acclaim, accolades, and awards rolled in almost as fast as the record sales. Country Grammar snagged three Grammy nominations, two for Best Rap Solo Performance (“Ride Wit Me,” “Country Grammar”) and one for Best Rap Album (Country Grammar). Nelly also topped Billboard’s 2000 year-end chart as the Top Male Rap Artist. When he released Nellyville, it went on to sell more than 6 million units and even won two Grammy Awards for the ubiquitous hit singles “Hot In Herre” (Best Male Rap Solo) and “Dilemma,” featuring Kelly Rowland (Best Rap/Sung Collaboration).
