Info Post
A few months back, Marvel finally announced in San Diego Comic-Con that Guardians of the Galaxy will be an addition to the long list of superhero films expanding their universe. Now, THR's Heat Vision talks to Marvel and was told that James Gunn is Wanted as director to Galaxy.

Sources say that Marvel is exclusively sitting with Gunn (Super, Dawn of the Dead) in negotiations to direct the upcoming superhero saga. While Marvel is firm that Gunn is already the right choice--his ability to blend satire with action and horror well--in case Gunn ditches the offer, they have a few people on queue to take on the directing rights. Peyton Reed, director of Yes Man is one of the second choices and also directing duo Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden (It's Kind of a Funny Story).

This is going to be an on-or-off news: on because Gunn is in fact a good director, mixing humor with action/horror, "a quality he shares with The Avengers director Joss Whedon," says THR; off because Gunn had proven his mishap with Super, a film dedicated to the genre that unfortunately didn't work. (We couldn't afford to have what is like the off news with Galaxy, anyhow)

The pic, reportedly written by Chris McCoy of which draft was by Nicole Perlman, will summon a few staples from the comics. The following will appear in the movie: "Drax the Destroyer, a human resurrected as a green warrior with the sole purpose of killing Thanos (the villain in the Avengers final-scene tease); Groot, a giant tree-man; Star-Lord, a gun-toting half-human/half-alien intergalactic vigilante; Rocket Raccoon, a genetically engineered animal with a knack for guns and explosives; and Gamora, the last survivor of her species who was saved by Thanos to be his assassin but now battles him."

Guardians of the Galaxy is about “a U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants."
