The comics department definitely earned critical success over the last few years and it seemingly is dedicated to produce more that will not only keep the money rolling but satisfaction distributed as well. 'Dredd' is one addition to the growing list, a Brit-scifi/action set in a deserted city of Mega-City One, where addiction to a reality-altering drug is almost relentless. In the same city, the police force has the power to implement the law, judge crimes and execute criminals. Judge Dredd is the senior cop-slash-judge set on a mission alongside his cadet Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) to put the drug dealing led by Ma-Ma (Lena Heady) to a stop.
PREDICTION
From the looks of its trailer, 'Dredd' is one of those effects-heavy films that may or may not end up as a "good" movie. I learned to keep my evasiveness to these kinds of films to a high level because I always get disappointed by them. I know one particular director, Tarsem Singh who did 'Immortals' and 'Mirror Mirror', both films were eye-popping in effects and mind-twisting in a bad way.
Nevertheless, I believe 'Dredd' will stand superior to the earlier Sylvester Stallone version; judgment based on the generous load of action that is featured in the trailer. It is visually enticing and fascinatingly thrilling. My only concern though is the quasi-derivative plot that resembled greatly the recent Indonesian flick: 'The Raid'; lastly, some of the dialogue were not too appealing to me that they start to sound cheesy.

PREDICTION: This movie might hit in the theaters. "MIGHT HIT" equates to a 4-star prediction.
