Info Post
Shark movies generally work so much today. The most recent was Shark Night 3D and with all honestly, it was as dumb as it could get. Among the shark family, the one that resembles the most is the piranha, the sequel to the modest success 'Piranha 3D', 'Piranha 3DD' was a whole lot crappier (as if to entirely contrast the greatness of its predecessor). I have high hopes, although in the back of my mind I am a bit worried.

'Bait 3D' is a follow up to a gradually growing underwater 3D monster movies list. It's directed by Kimble Rendall who did the 2000 slasher flick, 'Cut'. In his second feature, we follow a group of strangers trapped inside a grocery store due to a catastrophic tidal wave drawing in a school of flesh-eating tiger sharks.

There seems to be a great resemblance of this film to Frank Darabount's successful Stephen King reinvention, 'The Mist'. In 'Mist', locals are stranded in a super mart while "the mist" covers everywhere outside the edifice white wherein otherworldly creatures appear suddenly. I can tell you that it does have the atmosphere of the King blockbuster, but I don't think it has the skills set of the Darabount. Not even close.

What's amusing in this movie though, is the premise. Teens are involved so a lot of trashy talking and constant cuddling may appear (Phoebe Tonkin won't be a reminder of that in here, however, I guess); this will somehow leave in the background, the tendency of the narrative to be too busy. What's in for the audience is the blood, the hit-and-miss shocks and the fun. How much ever cliched that sounded.

Here's a fresh Red Band trailer for 'Bait'!

Undoubtedly amusing and absurdly intriguing, 'Bait' as if commands me to keep it on my "watchlist". MIGHT HIT, in theaters September 9!
