From left to right: Alden Ehrenreich, Brady Corbet and Dane DeHaan |
Earlier this month, reports have told us that Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained) may be playing villain in Marc Webb's (yep, he's returning) The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Foxx will take on the role of Electro, and I have visioned him bringing colors to the black-and-white character from the comics. Today over The Hollywood Reporter, details emerge for the Harry Osborne role (played by James Franco in Sam Raimi's trilogy), reporting three possible names.
According to THR insiders, the role now calls for a more "dark and edgy" actor than what is originally athletic and well-built. Possible actors include Beautiful Creatures's Alden Ehrenreich, Melancholia's Brady Corbet and Chronicle-star Dane DeHaan. DeHaan definitely earns my vote - he can do crazy as well as Corbet could, but DeHaan can also go for action (he's appeared in Lawless), making him the best pick among the selection. Dear casting directors, go with Dane DeHaan or it's your funeral.
Meanwhile, Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) and Emma Stone (Easy A) are confirmed to be back on the sequel, due on theaters May 2nd, 2014. Shailene Woodley is officially playing Mary Jane Watson.
