Acclaimed and bestselling author Dean Koontz is definitely a presence in a lot of horror bookshelves. His ongoing series "Odd Thomas" stays commercially and critically triumphant. He also has written another book series, this time completed, called "Frankenstein" which was recently nabbed to be developed as a drama series to air on TNT.
Koontz's "Frankenstein" series is a modern retelling of Mary Shelly's classic. Set in New Orleans present day, the story pivots around Victor Helios who pursues creating the perfect human race with the help of modern technology. But his obsessions wander inside his dangerous mind, and his first creation named Deucalion. Deucalion will eventually team up with a pair of homicide detectives in order to stop his creator's nightmarish visions and fight against Helios's obsessions driven by madness.
Koontz has already told his long disappointment in adaptations of his works, saying that nothing really "get what he does properly". His "Frankenstein" series being greenlighted would only mean that Koontz himself is comfortable about production which has Lionsgate Television as chief. James and Jake Hart (father-and-son) will be scribe and translate the fine-print into screen.
All details are under-wraps but we'll get to it the second development moves forward.
