Father and son Will and Jaden Smith (Pursuit of Happiness) is set to appear in the post-apocalytic sci-fi After Earth directed by M. Night Shyamalan (Signs) and written by Havoc writer Stephen Gaghan. Following a promisingly middling trailer that is released recently, Columbia Pictures has distributed the debut one-sheet for the film.
The movie follows a crash landing leaves teenager Kitai Raige (Jaden Smith) and his legendary father Cypher (Will Smith) stranded on Earth, 1,000 years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape. With Cypher critically injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help, facing uncharted terrain, evolved animal species that now rule the planet, and an unstoppable alien creature that escaped during the crash. Father and son must learn to work together and trust one another if they want any chance of returning home.
One-sheet's wearying already. It has the same "oh, look at the lead star's back because it's going to be an epic journey" formula and I couldn't commit to the project any less. Of course, Will Smith is in here, and that's a fact you can't take away from the movie - this movie might turn to the better.
It reaches screens June 7th.
