Info Post

Zack Snyder's comic book epic Watchmen was re-released on Blu-Ray this week, and when the opportunity to strike a conversation, LA Times took the chance. Snyder talked about his fascination about comic books (stating the obvi, brother), a brief heads-up on what to expect and his serious involvement with next year's Superman blockbuster, Man Of Steel.

"It's a more serious version of Superman," he says. "It’s not like a heart attack. We took the mythology seriously. We take him as a character seriously. I believe the movie would appeal to anyone. I think that you’re going to see a Superman you’ve never seen before. We approached it as though no other films had been made. He’s the king-daddy. Honestly that’s why I wanted to do it. I’m interested in Superman because he’s the father of all superheroes. He’s this amazing ambassador for all superheroes. What was it about him that cracked the code that made pop culture embrace this other mythology? What we‘ve made as a film not only examines that but is also an amazing adventure story. It’s been an honor to work on. As a comic book fan, Superman is like the Rosetta Stone of all superheroes. I wanted to be sure the movie treated it respectfully."

I'm stoked for the movie with this. And I really can't wait for DC to keep up with Marvel. (I'm delirious about the possible Justice League movie.) My vision is to have people struggle to choose between DC and Marvel movies because they are closely irresistible that a momentum like this is worse than trying to hold your fart in a public place.

The film follows a story written by The Dark Knight Trilogy filmmaker Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer concerning an infant from outer space. The infant has crashed on the phase of the earth, adopted by a kindhearted family and grown as a human. Eventually, Clark Kent (Henry Cavill, The Immortals) will learn that he has superhuman abilities. He vows to defend his foster planet from any evil that may come to harm it. Man Of Steel also stars Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road), Kevin Costner (Dance With Wolves) and Diane Lane.

Directed by Zack Snyder (Watchmen), Man of Steel will be reaching screens June 14th next year.
