Info Post
Ang Panday 2  does not profit from establishing a high-expectation among the public. We've seen it ravage the online traffic as it topnotch the topics of Filipino movie sites and movie review blogs. And because of that, people assumed that this one is going to be almost-perfect flick.

Here's the setup: Flavio had slayed the ass of the Beelzebub dude, Lizardo, who spread darkness like contagious rage over the world. Now, a bitchy witch used all of her shitty powers to rise him back from the dead. Same old, same old. Lizardo once again tries to stir up fiendish events to destroy Flavio and rule the world. Flavio, must once again fight for peace and the lives he oath to protect.

PANDAY 2 IS A SLICK CGI OFFENDER. Just the CGI. I like to see some more advanced and realistic digital animations in Filipino films to date. However, some of the animations resembles an achingly huge amount to prominent Hollywood films like Eragon and Clash of the Titans. This of course only leaves our sequel to the 2009 MMFF Best Picture, tagged down: "unoriginal".

Exodus, from Enchanted Kingdom (yep, the theme park once or twice produced films) the same studio that brought us Resiklo, also starred Sen. Bong Revilla, Jr., has by far the best graphics and digital animations collectively. At least, Panday 2 manages to keep up among his films in terms of CGI.

Rewinding back to the first sentence of this jump break, "Just the CGI." The first half of the film was loaded of crappy props, like swords looking too fake, and settings looking too sitcom-ish. The second half of the film, where Director Mac Alejandre decided to use digital effects on, salvaged the cinematography of the film.

PANDAY 2'S ACTION IS HALF-GREAT. LITERALLY. Half of the action scenes were pretty awesome, and keeps up to his previous films, though us on FilmPolice strongly believes that it didn't kept up with the first film, and achingly half of the action scenes were honestly damn slow. Another thing that bothers me is Flavio's raising of his "punyal" to the air and then lengthens to his mighty sword. We were too drowned to see it happen each time a battle scene approaches. We disturbingly witnessed it more or less 10 times over the movie, this almost laughable.

PANDAY 2 IS FUN. Thanks to his vicious sense of humor, Benjie Paras managed to save the second half of the film, with his constant old-school comic scenes. Frequent fainting, laughably make-faces, and crazy punchlines made this film fun to the eyes and to the ears. Philip Salvador played Lizardo, a fiendish, comedically-boxed creature--it helped to spell the FUN just right. Sarcasm and fight scenes went together well in this movie.

PANDAY 2 HAS A WHIRLWIND OF CASTS. This year was dazzled by stars with cameos and appearances by veterans, names: Lorna Tolentino, Alice Dixon, Eddie Garcia, and Lucy Torres-Gomez. Fresh faces also added to the Panday fame: Joshua Dioniso, Barbie Forteza, Jake Vargas, Bea Binene, Alden Richards and Kris Bernal.

Sometimes it troubles the heck out of me to see minor characters too involved and then shift to others making the plot too twisted and then tangles them too much, to the extent that it could not be untangled. Now what kind of words am I using?? Anyway, what I meant is that Panday 2 had a pool of characters--a big one--and it is too big to focus on each one, you're too confused where was the focus of the film. Well, this is my opinion.

Ang Panday 2 again hits the cinemas receiving a wave of loyal viewers with great expectations. I watched it cynically, and I was disappointed still. Anyway, this movie is enjoyable especially with the family. 2 stars is a generous rating.
