Info Post
We are four days down before we finally see the entries of Metro Manila Film Festival! If you followed my first post, you'd know how things will work around here. CLICK HERE TO VIEW THAT POST.

Metro Manila Film Festival Trivia: Nora Aunor won the biggest number of Best Actress awards! The number? 7. Seven goddamn awards. From Atsay to Muling Umawit ang Puso, Noranians are made proud by her stunning acting abilities.

SEGUNDA MANO

With the success of her three major horrors, Feng Shui, Sukob, and last year's Dalaw (click here to read a full-film review), critically acclaimed "Horror Queen" of the Philippines Kris Aquino is again conquering the big screen.
Kris Aquino.
In this jump-to-the-edge-of-the-seat horror, Kris Aquino plays Mabel, an antique shop owner, who tries to put her life back together, after their tragic loss of her sister. Ivan is Dingdong Dantes, an architect, going on the same lane, as he tries to put her family to safety. The two got involved, and Ivan proposes for marriage, ghost hauntings become inevitable and Mabel will find out something that will be test of time of her love to Ivan.
Dingdong Dantes plays Ivan.
Philippine Horror adheres to the same formula. A creepy ghost-girl will haunt the protagonist, protagonist is lovey-dovey with the male lead, the ghost girl gets really pissed. With SEGUNDA MANO's release, I can honestly say that it looks a little like Dalaw, where marriage spells: "doubt for deception".

Although films are becoming more of a resemblance to one another, if not, to foreign films, there are other films that are fresh. For instance, Yam Laranas's The Road. Click here to read on my review.

Anyway, if this will make us bite our fingers, then it is an effective horror. That's what matters, only the element of surprise will harshly diminish if this will continue on the next few years. Take a peek on the full trailer.

SHAKE RATTLE AND ROLL 13
Official movie poster.
WHAT DID YOU EXPECT? :P

SRR brought us some of the Filipino horror classics, episodes like: Manananggal and others. It is the Friday the 13th of the Philippines. The first few movies were good, then the following rest, is sliding down.

The episode "LRT" which is just recent, starred Keempee De Leon, and Manilyn Reynes, and 11 more cast. These is by-far, for me, is the best modern-day horror episode of SRR. It was original, and very western, and by western I mean--it could happen. I mean, our government might discover a deformed species, take custody and feed on humans by the night. It could happen. Our government is fiendish.

Well, SRR 13 has of course 3 episodes, following the previous films, quote: "success" with this format. From nice and creepy ghost-old-lady, to crappy black-fluid-drooling-bastardly-looking-creature, to fantasy fairytales. I believe that SRR 13 will be just worse than the previous one. Come on! Work your butts off.

But, this is just a judgement based on the trailer, we will have to see the full movie before considering what I just said. Speaking of trailers, here's Shake Rattle and Roll 13's.

These are two horror films, shock-and-gore enthusiast must add to their list. Just make sure that you guys won't be frustrated for some disappoints and let-downs. I am happy that Philippine horrors isn't yet dead. Don't let it.
