To the readers that have been reading this blog from a time now, it would be an easy task to learn that I admire with all of my heart, Steven Spielberg's work (leading me to a question: Who wouldn't?). Once I figured that a new film is out to the world, and, is directed by the emperor of Spelbergia, I literally pumped my chest out of enthusiasm.
A compelling friendship between a horse named Joey, and a young farm boy, Albert who trains him. Parted because Albert's father sells Joey to the cavalry; Albert enlists to the army during the First World War on a journey sided with an agenda of finding his friend.
At first look, 'War Horse' can be assumed as a movie for the young audience, but with Speilberg in the production, you can assume otherwise. War Horse translates to a sweeping landscape fenced by the corners of humanity and love for the co-existing creatures, and to the other side of the landscape: violence and cruelty. Jeremy Irvine of such a fresh new comer, delivers a ginormous amount of genuine feel between the connection of his character to the horse. For some events, that turn out differently at times, Joey seem to always water the seedlings of humanity, water them, and bosom to a gritty and frenzy unleash of emotions. Genuine emotions. (Shall I stop using the word, 'genuine', oh what the hell).
With a material so moving, dashed with some Speilbergian magic; 'War Horse' in fact turns out to be a message that sometimes the most sincere and humane friendship that you can witness, is that of between human and animal. 4 stars.
'War Horse' is a Compelling Man-Animal Friendship.
