I recently watched the horror-slash-mystery 'Vanishing on 7th Street' and I got to tell that it's kind of vague. And in the chance that you like mystery films that does not resolve the mystery in the end, than skip this because you probably won't like this at all.
Vanishing people when dark hovers on them; a handful survivors find themselves drawn together to survive the body-eating literal darkness. Together, they try to come close to light until salvation comes down in an array.
Probably the best thing that's happened to this movie is that they used an additional mystery effect in the event that they used '7th street' as their main setting. I've searched some fun facts about the movie and found out that there is no 7th street in Detroit, where the movie is shoot. However, mystery comes over-the-top when we intuit that the movie never really solidifies how the reaping of literal darkness began (well, we figure it in the scene of which explains that the same thing happened like 60 years back; BUT it never explained why it happened); the same sense goes with the ending whereas explanations, even in the final confrontation, seemed to lack. I don't want to really sound casual and sarcastic, but the shadowy figures with grungy-cartoonish-claws are almost laughable. But, to my surprise, there are like one or two unexpected shocks.
Vanishing on 7th Street proves that a mystery film doesn't necessarily need a mystery; but rather a solution first, then there comes the mystery to be solved. Kinda similar to "you can't really play and ENJOY Marvel VS. Capcom 3 if you're alone.' You need some good ol' buddies to enjoy. 2 stars.
'Vanishing on 7th Street' is Pitch-Dark. And that's an Insult.
