Info Post

We're approaching the Oscars-season and each of us, piece by piece are building the list of potential award-sweepers. The Assassination of Jesse James director Andrew Dominik's Killing Them Softly seems a formidable contender, receiving much praise from critics after it premiered at Cannes recently. The final trailer for the movie just went online via IGN, and you can frankly see the critics' point with their positive remarks. Watch the trailer to the very end of this post.

Based on a 1974 novel by George V. Higgins called Cogan's Trade, the movie will follow a hired enforcer to restore order after three dumb fellers rob a mafia-protected poker game, pulled-off by some small-time crooks, causing the criminal economy to collapse. The movie headlines Brad Pitt as enforcer Jackie Cogan alongside co-stars Scoot McNairy (Monsters), Ben Mendelsohn (The Dark Knight Rises), James Gandolfini (In the Loop), Richard Jenkins (The Cabin in the Woods) and more.

Dominik, besides having directing credits, also translated the print into screenplay. He has done Chopper and the acclaimed (and personal fave) The Assassination of Jesse James which starred Brad Pitt, too. The movie is hitting US theaters November 30th, and as here in the Philippines, we'll get to see it a week later by December 5th. Something worthwhile of wait, don't you think? Head inside and watch the trailer:
