Info Post

Movies to reach Philipine movie screens this week. A post-converted animation classic. An Avenger-like kids movie. A sports movie starring Clint Eastwood. A Filipino romance with the paranormal spin. A Silent Hill sequel. A Jose Manalo-Wally Bayola comedy. And a Taken-copycat starring Nic Cage.

I don't know about you, but this week is a mixed bag that everyone has a movie to go to. I'm not saying that all of them are worth your money, of course.

FINDING NEMO 3D

First released in 2003, the movie is one of the many superior 3-D animated films. Almost a decade and the movie still looks grand as hell and with the advancement of technologies, 3-D techniques will be likely impressive. It's the exact same content, only post-converted to come closer to the eyes of the audience, so I guess it's enough assurance. I grew up with this film, and if you did too, you definitely understand how I feel for this movie. If you dig 3-D, you should rush to the theaters first thing tomorrow. (Don't Hold Back)

RISE OF THE GUARDIANS

From my movie review: "Rise of the Guardians, despite its juvenile premise, is pretty clever. The whimsical adventure is contrived to resemble a superhero movie which works as it grows on you...the use of 3-D are used expertly (not overdone, not half-cooked. Just beautiful), highlighting the movie's dazzling images, first-rate animation and beautifully drawn landscapes (Santa's factory, Pitch's lair and Tooth's home)...It's unlikely to work on audiences above pre-children, but it has a lot of things to still see. My constant epiphany in those parts of my life when I had to enter the theaters, "Don't over think it," will be of great use if it appears on screen before the very first frames of these kinds of film." TROUBLE WITH THE CURVE

Clint Eastwood, star of my favorite Spaghetti Western The Good, The Bad and the Ugly (1966) return to screen as a baseball scout. The movie frankly looks promising, of course the presence of Eastwood is enough. I have a hunch that this movie will be somewhat mediocre, but when it hits, it should be a homerun. (Proceed With Caution)

MY PARANORMAL ROMANCE

A romance with the paranormal spin. Interesting. But it's always best to put your hopes down, than being disappointed in the end. (Proceed With Caution)

SILENT HILL: REVELATION 3D

The sequel to the 2006 original adaptation. I'm honestly a bit of a fan of the game series and the first movie, and while this movie looks stylized, there's something in it that seems to be a tad off. If you're anywhere bigger of a fan than me, then this should work for you. (Proceed With Caution)

D'KILABOTS THE POGI BROTHERS, WEH?

With how Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola is schooled (the interminable Enteng Kabisote's hit-and-mostly-miss comedy), I fear the outcome of this won't be good. The slapstick comedy is dying every movie, and I figure it's time to move on with some clever wordplay and one-liners. Manalo and Bayola are such talents but I imagine how better they would appear to a different kind of comedy (like in their daily TV show, Eat Bulaga). (Try to Avoid)

STOLEN

Almost the exact same movie as the estimable Liam Neeson's Taken, Stolen feels like it's going to be one hackneyed action-thriller with goods that are more or less overused. (Try to Avoid)
