As the year wraps up, we also look back at the songs we danced to, sang along to, and went wild to in the last 12 months! Join MCA Music as we celebrate the rollercoaster ride that is 2010 with 2010 The Hottest, a 20-track compilation of the biggest hits of the year.
2010 The Hottest features the biggest artists and their latest hits including:
Maroon 5 – Misery, The first single off the band’s third studio album Hands All Over shows Maroon 5 dishing the sound their fans have come to love—infectious pop-rock-funk hooks carried forth by Adam Levine’s soulful bray. “Misery” debuted strong and gathered a formidable 54,000 first-week downloads, later peaking at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Justin Bieber – Somebody To Love, This poppy dancefloor ditty off My World 2.0 further cements Bieber’s spot as one of the year’s biggest hitmakers. “Somebody to Love” is the Canadian teen heartthrob’s third consecutive top ten hit in his home country. Elsewhere in the globe, the song is also a certified hit, entering the top 20 in countries such as the United States, Germany, New Zealand, and Australia.
Ne-Yo – Beautiful Monster, The first single off Ne-Yo’s latest album Libra Scale made an impressive debut on the UK Singles Chart, effortlessly sweeping into the number one spot. It also made its way to the top 10 in Italy, where it was certified gold. Fans and critics alike have given “Beautiful Monster” the thumbs-up, comparing Ne-Yo's vocals to that of the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
Taio Cruz – Dynamite, This irresistible track from the British R&B artist reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100. On the Digital Songs chart, it debuted at number 13, selling 83,000 copies in its opening week alone. Cruz tells MTV News, "The song 'Dynamite' itself is about when you go to the club and when you go to a party and when you're just going out... you got to feel like, 'I'm just gonna explode.'
Kelly Rowland feat. David Guetta – Commander, Just over a month after its release, this club collab by the R&B songstress and the French DJ/producer topped the U.S. Hot Dance Club Chart, also entering the top ten in the UK and the top twenty in Ireland and New Zealand. No wonder showbiz bible Entertainment Weekly named "Commander" the year’s “Summer Jam No. 1”.
Miley Cyrus – Can’t Be Tamed, Miley Cyrus’ third studio album Can’t Be Tamed sees the teen idol breaking away from her wholesome image, and no other song showcases this transformation better than the title track. “Can’t Be Tamed” reached number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 and landed on the fifth spot on both the Irish Singles Chart and New Zealand Singles Chart. Looks like the world is ready for the revamped, risqué Miley.
Lady Gaga – Bad Romance, The lead single off The Fame Monster, “Bad Romance” stormed charts all over the world, snagging the top spot in the UK Singles Chart, the Irish Singles Chart, the Canadian Hot 100, and the Swedish, German, Austrian and Danish charts. It also peaked at number two in countries such as the United States, Australia, and New Zealand—a clear sign that Gaga has won over the globe.
2010 THE HOTTEST also contains other fiery favorites for the year such as Enrique Iglesias’ “I Like It” featuring Pitbull, Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me”, Shontelle’s “Impossible”, Orianthi’s “Shut Up and Kiss Me”, Drake’s “Find Your Love”, Rihanna’s “Te Amo”, Owl City’s “Vanilla Twilight”, Tokio Hotel’s “Dark Side Of The Sun”, One Republic’s “Secrets”, Black Eyed Peas’ Imma Be, Timbaland’s “Carry Out” featuring Justin Timberlake, Beast’s “Shock”, and Esmee Denters’ “Love Dealer” featuring Justin Timberlake.
