Perry, who confirmed the touch-up over the weekend, said she had personally made the request. "I was the one who asked VH1 to tone down my DIGITALIZED image on the poster, particularly the size of my chest... & I don't have handlers," she wrote.
The photo of Perry released for the campaign features the singer sporting a noticeably downsized bust, while posing as a pinup model in a camouflage outfit. Although none of the ad campaign's other artists, including Nicki Minaj, Keri Hilson and Paramore's Hayley Williams, appear to have had their photos similarly altered, a source told Us Weeklythat the singer's "team thinks her boobs look too big" in the untouched ad and wanted to reduce her cleavage.
In September, a segment Perry shot for "Sesame Street" was pulled offline after parents complained about the singer's revealing outfit. Perry later poked fun at the controversy by appearing in a skit on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" wearing a low-cut Elmo T-shirt.
Following the release of the altered "Divas Salute the Troops" last Wednesday, Perry wore a skintight red outfit while performing "Firework" during the American Music Awards last night.
