Kimberly Pierce's (Boys Don't Cry) reincarnation of Stephen King's classic novel "Carrie" will not be on theaters until October of this year. From its initial release date March 15, the movie delays for seven whole months. It now has a release slated October 18th.
While I hate that the wait became longer, the fact that the movie is moved from the first quarter of the year is assurance to me. A lot of terrible movies are released from January to April and this move only proves the studio's confidence with Carrie.
Based on King's audacious debut novel and a remake of Brian De Palma's (Carlito's Way) instant cult favorite 1976 version, Carrie follows a telekinetic outcast (Chloe Moretz) who, pressured by his bullying friends and dementedly religious mother (Julianne Moore), wreaks havoc in the small town of Maine after her tragic prom night.
Check out the short teaser and one-sheet for the movie below.
The movie also stars Judy Greer (13 Going 30), Gabriella Wilde (The Three Musketeers, yep, that. The Paul W.S. Anderson dog-shit), Alex Russell (Chronicle) and Portia Doubleday (Youth in Revolt).
