Info Post

Only two movies are playing in Filipino cinemas this week. One is an anti-bullying campaign in the form of a documentary, and the other is the final - hallelujah final - chapter of The Twilight Saga. In this post we discuss which to spend your money on and which to pass up.

BULLY

The Lee Hirsch (Amandla! A Revolution in Four Part Harmony) documentary looks promising. I've heard a lot of good things about the doc, that basically pivots around real-life victims of bullying. The documentary boasts of great filming, smooth flow and great exposition of a predicament that may not be even known or thought of. But then again, a lot of documentaries are like Bully, and sometimes you can't really tell which is good and which is otherwise. I say you watch it if you dig this kind of stuff.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN PART 2

Okay, I need to come clean already.

I never really liked the saga, I only watched Twilight until New Moon and after that I called it quits. So no matter how hard I bitch around the franchise, I really have no merit to do so, because I haven't seen the rest of it. But then, the nonsensical narration of the story of an expressionless anorexic teenage girl, a vampire guy who is so hot he starts to look like a homo (and he sparkles, too) and a hairy-ass werewolf who is surprisingly gentle and well-tempered. This is me being nice.

The book is just dimwits, taking out the fright in the image of a vampire and the fierce in the nature of werewolves. It's unfathomable how teenagers dig the franchise and it scares me that I'm on the same age bracket, and I feel otherwise about the movie. It's idiotic already, but the movie adaptations feel mediocre as if they are intent on exacerbating things. Understand that when I'm writing this I have accepted that I might come up dead tomorrow. Breaking news: Movie blogger found dead after insulting an idiotic teen movie.

The next morning. Breaking news: A reporter died after reporting about the death of a movie blogger who insulted a movie franchise. I'm replacing him now.

Seriously, Breaking Dawn Part 2 has some part of it that you want yourself to dig it. Especially that they added a kid. (I'd like to see how bad it gets, but I also am wondering if it would turn up good with Bella and Edward's daughter on screen). Like in Bully, you should only watch it if you're digging this kind.
