Info Post

The long-delayed release of Gangster Squad finally is all-set for January 11th 2013, after the shooting incident in a movie theater in Colorado. A similar scene may be found in the movie (you can see the trailer here), and the filmmakers were stuck baffled on whether to call off the release, and resume sometime later, or just reshoot a key sequence and pursue the release as planned - although the film had to wait a few months because the shooting would have felt a little too brutal (with, the real shooting still fresh on the masses's minds).

The film concerns a group of policemen, who shrugs off Mafias of Los Angeles, whatever it takes, and however they will do it. Set in the 40's-50's, the film stars Sean Penn (Carlito's Way), Ryan Gosling (Drive), Josh Brolin (Men In Black 3D) and Emma Stone (The Amazing Spider-Man). Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) takes the director's seat while Will Beall turns the Paul Lieberman book into screenplay.

Today, we're landed on a poster for the pic, clinging to the retro "feel" that was always planned. Tomorrow, a new trailer will be released, and will feature not the theater shooting sequence, but hopefully the one that they reshoot in LA, Chinatown.

I was really into the film before the whole incident happened, so when I found out it's going to be released early next year, I was kind of disappointed because movies, really, around January to March are kind of bad. It could be a good thing though, if the film lives up to what I've seen on the trailer, it'll take great attention both commercial and critical.

As promised, here is the poster for the pic.

With all that's happening with the film, are you still as excited as before? Tell me in the comments, now.
