Only a few weeks after the arrival of the found-footage horror-anthology V/H/S, a sequel has been locked and has tapped a couple of talented directors to helm short movies for the film. V/H/S 2 will shoot in LA, Maryland, Nova Scotia, British Columbia and Indonesia.
Gareth Evans (The Raid: Redemption), Eduardo Sanchez (The Blair Witch Project), Jason Eisener (Hobo With a Shotgun) and Timo Tjhajhanto (Macabre) are tapped and willing to helm each shorts. Adam Wingard (You're Next) who directed the main story arc, "Tape 56" in the first film, will be returning alongside debuting director Simon Barett.
"You'll have to give us the benefit of the doubt," Barett takes a second to tweet, "but we wouldn't be doing V/H/S 2 if we didn't think we could do something amazing about it." This sounded like something to make give skeptics assured that V/H/S 2, while unnecessary, will have something fresh to offer. Which is true. As far as horror anthologies go, as long as fresh ideas are coming in, a sequel may roll forward with no problems at all. This is likely the case for V/H/S 2 especially with the names that are involved.
The first film followed a group of students who are hired to trespass on a desolate house to steal one particular VHS tape. The sequel is believed to be on the same format, but with a couple of detectives discovering a tape while looking for a student.
More on this film as we hear more.
