X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn declined to helm the hotly anticipated X-Men chapter, X-Men: Days of Future Past. The pic is slated to release in July 18, 2014, and has to finish looking for another director to be on its helm if it doesn't want to be pushed on schedule. Bryan Singer (X-Men, and X-Men 2) are hoped and actually being considered to cover for Vaughn. This was not the first time Vaughn has pulled off when he previously declined with working with X-Men: The Last Stand which eventually landed on the hands of Brett Ratner (frankly the weakest film of the franchise).
Based on the 141st and the 142nd 'Uncanny X-Men' comics, Days of Future Past will concern the X-Men in an alternate future wherein an important part of the government is killed, triggering a chaotic battle involving sentinels. The Chris Claremont and John Bryne comic book is translated into film by screenwriter Simon Kinberg whose most credible work is the recent Sherlock Holmes.
Vaughn is apparently in pursuit of his liking, which is rumored to be The Secret Service, a movie adaptation of Kick-Ass creator Mark Millar's original comic book. Him and Millar has worked together in Kick-Ass and would be reuniting if rumors turn out true. According to reports though, Vaughn will keep in touch with the production, and will continue contributing to the film, being a producer.
