Info Post
Opening on Filipino cinemas this week is an entirely mixed bag comprised of a horror film, Angelina Jolie's directorial debut feature film, a Three Stooges remake and more.

The Apparition, a horror film under debuting director Todd Lincoln's helm, frankly has some uninteresting premise, a parapsychology experiment on the paranormal goes horrifically wrong. The idea has been overused, the most recent resemblance being The Awakening. From the looks of the trailer, we may have a mindless and tedious horror film on its way. I fear that this movie is not going to be good, so unless you enjoy  sleeping in the theaters, skip this one.

In The Land of Blood and Honey, a romance-war pic directed by Angelina Jolie, follows two people who gets to see each other again, as the Bosnian Wars emerges. I just saw the trailer for the film and while I claim I'm no sucker for romance movies, I'm still interested in watching. Same case for The Three Stooges, a new theatrical incarnation of the comedic trio, under Farrelly brothers's helm, which premise shows that it could be more of a rehash, than a reincarnation, but I'm still interested in watching.

Speaking of rehash, this time seemingly intentional, A Secret Affair, a romance movie greatly resembling the recent hit No Other Woman is also sitting on theaters this week. The pic concerns an engaged couple whose relationship is troubled, as a third-party comes to pop in the picture. Deception, to these kinds of movies, have been immensely abused, I mean, overused. No Other Woman wasn't frankly that good than how intense the praises it earns, and I fear the same case will be involved with A Secret Affair.

The Three Stooges, and In The Land of Blood and Honey are films that aren't guaranteed to astound, but they are worth your money. In terms of entertainment, A Secret Affair will likely feel the same as the movie where it borrowed its plot from, so the tendency is to feel a bit dated. I advise you proceed with caution.

Among all the movies opening this week, the only thing I'm excited about is Lawless, a film starring Shia LaBeouf (Transformers) and Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises, Inception). Looking at its trailer, it's likely that we have some violence fun, of course LaBeouf and Hardy's competence is just a plus. The pic is under the hands of John Hillcoat, director of The Road, and will follow a gang of bootleggers who are threatened as a new deputy demands a big cut from their profits. Take a moment considering this one, as I'm in good faith that this will do good.

That wraps about everything. Have a great movie week ahead! Check back for next week's too.
