While busied promoting a brewing action franchise for Jack Reacher (due on worldwide theaters December 21st), Tom Cruise has told Total Film Magazine that him and a couple of his people are already working on a new chapter of the infamous espionage franchise, Mission: Impossible. While Cruise showed enough eagerness about the project, the hoped sequel will have to pass through a lot of people, so waiting is the most one can do right now.
Cruise, who played Ethan Hunt in all four previous films of the franchise, has told the magazine, "We're already working on different images," speaking about the imminent fifth-quel, "talking conceptually. I love travelling around promoting different movies because I'm always looking at different places, and I always look around to see the city. I look at the architecture, subways...coming up with different sequences."
The franchise started back in 2000 and instantaneously generated a population of cult followers up to its most recent chapter, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol. The latest espionage follow up grossed $700 million worldwide last year; the expense of the movie ticket, went to seeing an amazing direction by director Brad Bird, and stunts that Cruise mostly did for himself - he rappels up and down of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. "I'll make as many as people want to see," Cruise says, "because they're very challenging and so fun to make."
So far, no words are spread out on people who are attached to the project, but I'll post them as reports come in.
