Info Post

I'm kind of attracted to Chronicle when it was first released on theaters mainly for its style, something new for the genre of superhero movies and found footage per se. This is warm thanks to Josh Trank, who, in the film discussed a lot of issues ably. He landed as director to the next Fantastic Four movie, and who knows, what bigger projects he might get in his hands to? Max Landis written the script and he seemed to understand the way the teenage brain works, teen angst, and the psychological weight of being a misfit. It's not as big as of Trank's contribution's proportion, but Landis is worth a commend.

He was given quite some time to draft the script for the unplanned sequel (Chronicle is that surprise hit that Fox always pursue eventually to a franchise) and the studio, FOX, seemingly declines it. The Playlist struck a conversation with John Landis in the special back-to-back premiere of The Wolfman and An American Werewolf in London. "He wrote a sequel and it's amazing," talking about his son and his draft, "and the studio [FOX] read it and said 'We want Chronicle again!' and he said, 'No, this is the sequel. This is evolution!' and they said, 'No we want that movie again!' So, it's difficult, we're dealing with a difficult business," Father Landis puts it into words.

Chronicle made approx $126 million in theaters by spending $12 million for the whole production. No move has been confirmed yet, but it reads that FOX has clearly declined Landis' initial draft. It's also clear that he has some vision for the movie, and usually it's good and solid, but FOX stuck him to do something that is more of a re-hash of the first film. At this point, it won't be any job to presume that a sequel with the script that FOX wants will be entirely necessary and will be putting an end to a possible worthwhile franchise. I mean, why do you always mess things up, you studio, you?!

Anyway, Chronicle 2 is under early stages of development and rumor has it that Alex Russell, star from the first film, will be reprising his role, if the sequel will not face any more troubles, at all. More on this film as we hear more.
