In very recent times, fanboys have been divided to sides with the emerging of many rumors that The Town director Ben Affleck is in fact in negotiations to direct the counter-Avengers pic, The Justice League.
JL is a motley ensemble of superheroes which includes Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, The Flash, etc. It's to worry though, that the mentioned hero pics, with the exception of Batman and Superman, aren't much as good for continuity if not even made at all. Regardless, Affleck tells 24 Hours that he is of no involvement with the giga-development.
"I'm not working on the Justice League. One of the problems with entertainment web sites is that they need to fill pages, and that's how rumours get started," says director-actor. "Justice League sounds really exciting, but it's not something I'm working on,” he even adds.
Affleck is currently filming a crime-thriller called Runner, Runner in which Justin Timberlake (In Time) is co-star. As for his directorial career, he just finished the film Argo, a drama-thriller in which he somewhat "exfiltrates" six Americans who are currently under Canadian premises. He also did Side by Side, a documentary of which subject is film making.
The Dark Knight Rises director may be remembered to have prior turned down the offer saying "I've got no plans to do anything more, and certainly, no involvement with any Justice League project."
In the DC Universe, Nolan is helping with the retelling of Superman in Zack Snyder's (Watchmen) Man of Steel.
Affleck, who also did Gone, Baby Gone has officially called it "off" with Justice League, and Warner Bros. is definitely starting a list of possible alternatives. According to Cinemablend, The Wachowski's (Matrix Revolutions) are rumored to take the directing job.
With what direction the Avengers-answer pic Justice League is heading, are you guys excited? Really? You can hold that very long?
