Info Post

According to Vulture: Disney, under new management, is in the thinking process if they are in fact taking on a remake of the 1991 sci-fi The Rocketeer. The troubled studio (besides the Marvel distribution of Avengers) have had this Iron Man-like hero movie as their first choice of which movie to produce right after the many flops that were recently released (John Carter is an easy example).

The by-then sci-fi pic was not much different too, as it is a flop by then when Disney first released it in the '90's. Telling the story of a stunt pilot Cliff Secord (Billy Campbell) who finds a rocket pack by the corner of his plane. He tries it on, and with the awesomeness that is with the package, Secord intuits that he needs to save the people from evil criminals, particularly to save the girl Jenny Blake (Jennifer Connelly, A Beautiful Mind). Take note, too, this movie is set in the thirties.

Vulture also reports however that the studio is planning to meet with some writers to brainstorm a usable take on The Rocketeer. So, is it time to say that this one's green lighted?

Taking this a yes, with Disney indeed taking on Rocketeer, the questions in everyone's mind are: "Why?"; "Where's the need?" I mean, Iron-Man is already on its theequel, let alone, its consistent charm in the box office, considering it as one of the most recent cash magnets of cinema.

The Rocketeer received different thoughts about it by '91. Thanks to Rotten Tomatoes's up and running scoreboard (I wasn't even born in '91! I've had it on VCD when I was 7.). I actually liked it.

Possible or the opposite, I'll personally make sure, that you'll hear from us if there are any further developments. Follow our free newsletter (click on "Get Film Police delivered by e-mail").
