Filmmaker Paco Plaza goes solo for the third installment of [REC]. After running two movie-long partnership with Jaume Balagueró, Plaza attempts to do different things with the franchise, including the drifting away from the "found footage" gimmick with which the franchise was prominently known for.
In [REC]³ Genesis, the prequel to the first movie, a wedding goes horribly wrong when few people started diving into madness due of some strange illness.
Whereas this [REC] is a very far cry from the first two that the audience [include me] had generally enjoyed, it still had its own merits showcasing slick gore and genuine scares which is what we all loved about the two previous films anyway.
It can be recalled that Paco Plaza, alongside Jaume Balagueró, made [REC] in 2007 and instantly became a hit. Two years later, a rather enjoyable sequel was released to the world. Now, opening in theaters with a September 7th release date, Genesis will take you the back story of it all.
August 3rd, the movie was released on video-on-demand, so I immediately picked it up on Amazon InstantVideo. Expect a review up soon.
To those who want to witness the madness in the bigger screen, head inside for this preview and wait your butt for another month!
PREDICTION: MIGHT HIT
