Info Post

I'd like to enter you in a weekly post I'm going to do, this is mainly due to the fact that I always review movies late (well, oftentimes, not always) and people positively kind of expect of what things I have to say about a movie. As solution, I parcel to you a weekly series I'd like to call "Weekly Predictions" in which I post my foretelling about movies opening up this week whether or not they're going to be good or bad. Understand though, that I won't be perfect at all times and I follow my perfectly imperfect instincts in doing these. If that's settled we can begin.

This week, opening in Filipino theaters are a Mark Whalberg comedy, a Taken sequel, an action featuring a bald Jake Gyllenhaal and a Filipino film basically about two cousin security guards. From the looks of it, we're going to have a very good week ahead.

With Whalberg's comedy Ted finally reaching screens tomorrow October 3rd, fans of live-cross-animation breed comedy (Yogi Bear, Alvin and the Chipmunks are easy examples) will have a supremely good time. Besides hearing a lot of good reviews about Ted, I have good faith in Mark Whalberg in this after watching the trailer, which you can see here. It's going to be good, otherwise above acceptable. It's good enough that a rare working comedy's on it this week, but with two more action films on the list, it is a considerable "frenzy".

Taken, while having its share of issues with its own, managed to pull off a sequel which will then be hitting the screens Oct 4th. Liam Neeson was spectacular in the first film and it's likely to see him the same in its successor, although I fear script issues will come rouse. Taken 2 will follow Neeson's character who, after killing the kidnapper of his daughter, goes on another plight in rescuing his wife, now abducted by the father of his daughter's kidnapper. It comes face-to-face with End of Watch, a crime-thriller centered on two cops (Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña) who are now being chased to death after confiscating money and firearms from a notorious cartel. The premise is interesting enough and the cast is, well, beyond that. While it already received favorable reviews, from the looks of the trailer, we're in for some exciting hour(s). End of Watch hits theaters October 3rd.

Finally, we've got a film centered on two cousin security guards in a residential compound, observing the lives of the residents. The pic has enough promise, though I feel there's going to be some execution problems in the process (let's hope not though). Dyagwar is an indie film finally having it's shot on mainstream release tomorrow.

In all of these four, I think we have a pretty good, if not really good week this week. Check back next week to know which films to avoid and which ones to follow.
